Semen Cardona makes the first shipment of fresh semen to Ghana

Semen Cardona once again makes history in the international swine sector by becoming the first company to ship fresh boar semen to Ghana, officially opening this new market for Spanish swine genetics.

This achievement once again reinforces Semen Cardona’s role as a pioneer in the internationalization of the sector, leading the opening of new destinations and facilitating global access to high-performance swine genetics.

The transaction was made possible thanks to the collaboration between various key players. Through our contact in Ghana, e-Zootech, representative of Axiom Genetics, and with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAPA) and the National Association of Scientific Pig Farming (ANPS), the opening of the health treaty between Spain and Ghana was formalized. The cooperation of the Ghanaian authorities, whose willingness made this agreement possible, was also key.

Thanks to this new export channel, Ghanaian pig farmers will have access to top-quality swine genetics, produced in our facilities under strict health and quality protocols. This opportunity will contribute to significantly improving the performance and competitiveness of the swine sector in the African country.
