IV SEMEN CARDONA TECHNICAL CONFERENCES

This past Wednesday June 21, Semen Cardona held its IV Technical Conferences.
The meeting took place in the “Parador Nacional de Cardona” with an audience of 25 technical and production people from the different AI studs that belong to Semen Cardona.
The objective of these conferences is to constantly update and consolidate the knowledge of the company’s staff, ensuring that not only those responsible for the technical team are kept up to date, but there is a specific plan to dissemine the information within the company .
This year, the main subject was biosecurity in the whole process of an AI stud, a completely vital area of Semen Cardona health strategy.
The session was divided into 3 areas:

• Dra. Raquel Agusejo from Magapor spoke about her worldwide experience regarding AI stud biosecurity.
• Isidro Sánchez, responsible for the Semen Cardona studs in Aragón and Rioja shared his experience during his stay in different USA studs, comparing the different managements in the production processes.
• Quarantine management including different semen collection and managements strategies were presented by several quarantine managers, also focusing in the practical experiences regarding young boar management at entry.

Finally, the close up was done with a round table (by Susana Jorge and Carles Torrentó (veterinarian and Semen Cardona Mexico manager, respectively), where all the audience could discuss about the topics developed during the day as well as share the knowledge and experience of all the participants.
The purpose of these technical conferences is to ensure the dissemination and consolidation of best practices within the company in crucial areas such as biosecurity, quality control and traceability of the whole production and distribution process of every semen dose. The final aim is to standardize the most suitable processes in all Semen Cardona studs, to provide high quality doses on a constant basis.
